Mid Cheshire Branch Meeting – Beginners
The Beginners Meeting will commence with a short talk (25-30 mins) covering the basics of what goes on in a hive and an outline of the beekeeping season. Aspects such as the basic equipment needed, typical costs, time required and training will also be described.
Following the introductory talk there will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any points on beekeeping. Depending on the numbers attending the meeting we will most likely split into smaller groups for these discussions; each group will include an experienced beekeeper who can hopefully answer any questions and facilitate the discussion.
During the meeting we are keen to show how the Mid-Cheshire Branch can help and support new beekeepers by providing “taster sessions” during which you can accompany a beekeeper when carrying out a hive inspection, and by providing individual mentoring to those performing their own hive inspections.
We also intend to provide participants with a “starter pack” which will include information on how Mid-Cheshire links with both the county and national beekeeping associations; a membership form; a list of our 2021 meetings; local training courses; a list of mentors and their contact details.
